INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT LANGHAM
Langham Oaks School was formerly known as Ramsden Hall School. The school’s enrolment is 69 male pupils, the majority of whom come from Essex and the school is an Academy delivering SEMH provision. The School delivers a progressive curriculum which follows a Synergetic model delivering both a formal and informal curriculum (Including residential provision).
The school is currently developing the mobile SABA App (School Anti Bullying App) in partnership with Coderus. Students from the school met Prince William, Duke of Cambridge in September 2015 to share their vision for reducing bullying in schools.
There is little evidence of pre Roman occupation of what is now Langham but the Romans built a villa at the north end of the village close to the River Stour and the Roman Road from Colchester into Suffolk also ran to the east of the village and so there was probably Roman activity in the area of the village. The Anglo-Saxons later established a settlement which was possibly called Laingaham, the spelling in the Domesday Book. The Domesday Book shows a small agricultural community with the manor held by Walter Tirel, the man who was accused of shooting William Rufus while hunting for deer in the New Forest..
